Is it me?

If the people you work with are making a procedure overly complicated, and you ask the question (because it seems like common sense to you) as to why this is being made so complicated, is the correct response from said co-workers supposed to make you feel like you are the asshole?

I think I now know what the kid who noticed the emperor wasn’t wearing any cloths must have felt like….

I’m confused. Were your coworkers wearing cloths? If not, is that a good thing? Were you wearing cloths? I know from your facebook photos that you’re kind of white and pasty so that probably isn’t a good thing. But then again so am I so I won’t comment further. 🙂

It reminds me of an incident with the tech guys here at the paper. For the longest time they couldn’t engineer a problem away. After dealing with the issue for several months (the plates for press were not burning and/or cooking/washing properly) and agonizingly scraping excess funk off the finished product I made a simple suggestion. It didn’t involve a tool, schematic, chart, manufacturer visit, brainstorming session or higher tech support. It took a can of matte black spray paint and 1min. Problem solved. I didn’t get a Holiday bonus a year ago due to the financial strain of figuring out the problem. I should have charged a consulting fee + of course, the cost of one can of spray paint.
