Based on recommendations on the net and through conversations with others, I decided to give Stephen King’s The Dark Tower series a read through. Let me just say that I NEVER want to meet Stephen King. I have a feeling that should one meet and talk to the man, they will instantly become consumed by madness from learning everything and nothing about all reality all at once. Kinda like meeting Cthulhu.
Besides the danger of the whole madness and death thing, these books are AMAZING. I was hooked about ten pages into the first book The Gunslinger. I am working through Book 3, The Wastelands, right now. In what I see as classic King style, the madness that the main character always experiences is starting to take hold, and the cool thing about it is that it seems to be spreading to the other characters like a disease….and they ALL know it.
In my research of the series I did see a few spoilers, but I have stopped myself from reading the synopsis of all the books except the first one. I like them so much so far that I truly want to be surprised by everything that happens.
Basically, I am really enjoying these books. I highly recommend them to others, and if you should find me gripped by madness and mumbling incoherently you’ll know why.
