Star Trek

Yeah, I saw it.

Yeah, I was entertained.

Yeah, I still think that J.J. Abrams is a hack who uses time travel as a storytelling crutch.

Yeah, the incessant Lens Flaring was REALLY annoying.

But I’ll buy the DVD when it comes out and I will go and see the sequels to it.

And Sylar makes a good Spock.

I don’t think Abrams wrote it. I do think it was smart of him to use that crutch so as not to piss off the loyalists. I think he succeeded in that you sound only merely annoyed.
I think he’s from the future.

You are right, he didn’t write it. But Orci and Kurtzman worked with him on Alias, so they are basically all on the same wavelength. Also, the fact that Abrams is using time travel (or something similar) as a plot device in LOST, just makes it seem like he’s got nothing else.

I really dig the story, don’t get me wrong. I REALLY thing the ST movie franchise needed a good shakeup like this. And it does open up the ability to re-write the continuum.

It’s just, if he wanted to remake Star Wars, he probably could have asked Lucas nicely….;-)
